I visited for the first time a few weeks ago and hands down the best service I have ever received in a bar/lounge setting. Very clean and cozy atmosphere, staff is AMAZING! Drink were really GOOD! And I only had 1 app. (Loaded fries) they were okay, but again this is a place more for drinks so I can’t speak on the other bites they have. A great place to casually pre-game or after dinner drinks!!! 10/10 bringing my parents here this weekend! Music vibes were amazing and I love music!!!! My party was of 4 people and we made reservations ( this is a place for smaller parties since it’s intimate and smaller )
VIBES! We had a reservation at 6 to kick off a birthday celebration and were warmly greeted by all the staff. We had exceptional service and the drinks were fantastic! They went above and beyond and had a birthday card hand signed from the staff and offered us bubbles to start our evening. The vibe is stunning! The lighting, the music...what an amazing addition to Channelside. They do have a nice happy hour menu also and the loaded fries were to die for! Thank you an amazing evening! We will definitely be back!
1) Great ambiance / cool vibe 2) AMAZING drinks (best espresso martini in town) 3) v nice bartenders. The only downside is the wait time and cover, but still worth it
This place was such a gem to go to on our Tampa visit. It feels so vintage and modern at the same time. The service and the drinks were incredible. Tommy made the best cocktail I’ve ever had! We went on a Wednesday night and it was super chill. Would need a reservation on the weekends for sure tho! Definitely pricey, but worth it
Alter ego is the BEST lounge/bar I’ve ever been to. The staff is SO AMAZING and attentive (like seriously) the drinks, the food, the atmosphere- 10 stars. This is my favorite spot in Tampa.
Classy and loungey with polished touch. The menu changes seasonally and during this visit it was all about the holiday season. Creative touches made it memorable. You can reserve a table or walk in for bar service. A DJ was sipping vinyl during our visit and the room was lively with conversation. We had the fancy Chex Mix along with a bevy of bevs including the Proper Pils, HoHo Cocoa served in a Proper House branded to go cup which was so cute, and the Stocking Stuffer and Sugar Plum as well as my personal favorite, the Gravy Back - a shot of whiskey pair with a chaser of hot gravy. Amazing! Thanks for the VIP treatment! The staff were very warm and welcoming.
The music on a Sunday around 8pm was spot on for me. This is the first time I’d been here. I loved the 80’s/90’s music. It wasn’t crowded, which I really enjoyed as I like more of a lounge, not being pressed against other people at a bar. The interior design is great with dark reds and lots of flowy curves. Lots of 80’s nostalgia on the shelves behind the bar. We only ordered drinks since we had just eaten at Ash next door, but they do have about 10 options for food here. They are happy to make whatever drink your heart desires. I saw they had Negroni on the menu, but I was hoping for a Negroni sour. The waiter worked with me to concoct a mix between an Enzoni and Negroni sour. I loved it. I would absolutely come back.
The folks over at Alter Ego have really done a job! All of the drinks we had were excellent and came from the bar relatively quickly. The Happy Hour menu was available until 8 PM which made it easy to try a few different drinks at 12 each. I normally like the classics to be left alone, but AE has done a good job of changing things up in a tasteful way like adding cinnamon to the Bees' Knees or serving something up that would otherwise be served on the rocks. The service was excellent. When meeting a friend, the host asked who we were with so they could take us directly to our table instead of having us look around. A very nice touch. The wait staff share tables so we were checked on regularly (but not annoyingly often) and we never needed to find our waiter(s). The only issue with service was that staff seemed very eager to clear glasses (even with a few drops left) but it was easy to say if we weren't finished yet. We were in and out before 9 PM so we don't know about the DJ experience, but the disco music they had set the vibe so well. Most of the negative reviews on Google seem to address reservations and unmet expectations. If you have a reservation and know what to expect of this place, it's a great time.
